WSCI Activities

Here's a sampling of activities and benefits that WSCI brings to its members:

•   Coordination of cooperative, cost-effective participation in national and regional trade shows

•   Establishment of funds for partial reimbursement of member costs for trade show participation and development of marketing materials

•   Fielding of research to identify niche market opportunities for new specialty cheese products

•   Regular communication with members via the WSCI Special Delivery e-newsletter

•   Production of a sales guide listing WSCI cheesemakers, their products and their distribution

•   Work with the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board to develop co-funded advertising and in-store specialty cheese sampling programs

•   Creation of an advisor program that connects specialty cheesemakers with volunteer professional advisors who consult on all aspects of starting and operating a successful specialty cheese plant

•   Execution of informational workshops with other in-state associations to help members learn how to better access available marketing tools and programs

•   Sponsorship of select industry events to help ensure visibility for WSCI and its members

•   Assistance with international trade leads

•   Securing of lower trade advertising rates and providing assistance to members in securing cooperative advertising opportunities

“WSCI provides opportunities to share costs and direct programs that help all of us grow. Networking with other members is invaluable, and through WSCI we stay informed about and connected to the many other organizations that support cheesemaking in Wisconsin.”

Debbie Crave, Crave Brothers Farmstead Cheese, Waterloo

Annual Golf Outing

While every WSCI meeting affords opportunities for networking, a highlight of the year is the annual WSCI Golf Outing. Held in mid-summer at a premier Wisconsin resort, the event brings Wisconsin's specialty cheesemaking community together for relaxation, fun-filled hospitality, networking and, of course, some rousing rounds of golf!
